Stine Seed Company’s operation ran on a 30-year AS/400 ERP. Roughly one million lines of COBOL held the rules for nine business domains, from customers and production to inventory and distribution. Many of those rules lived in the source itself. Replacing the technology meant understanding that knowledge first.
Make the proof tangible.
The engagement began with a six-month proof-of-concept. The team recovered business rules, rebuilt representative screens and reviewed them weekly with the people who used the system. Those working demonstrations established a path for the full modernization.
Carry the business forward.
The rebuild progressed screen by screen and domain by domain. Repeated logic was consolidated into one model, while the knowledge behind the original system was preserved. The result is a browser-based platform that brings production, inventory and distribution together.
The goal is a new foundation, not a new set of rules for how the business works.
